Med’s, Mile End
Med’s is firm favourite amongst the QMUL faithful, many Muslims would say it has the best full English they have ever had. There has been some recent rebranding, however this hasn’t affected their quality in the slightest. NB. Salt doesn’t like this place at all- the worst halal Full English she’s ever had.
Med’s also serves some great sandwiches and omelettes if you don’t particularly want a full English. I mostly tend to order the Big Breakfast (note there are even bigger options), this includes: 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 toasts, beans, pan fried mushrooms, French fries, a few strips of Turkey and a cup of tea. The food is well priced and considering the big breakfast costs only £5.50 I see that as great value.
There are a few halal breakfast places around the mile end region worthy of going to, but in my opinion this is the best of them.
Note – if you eat non-halal food I would probably advise you go for a sandwich or an omelette.
Food – 3.5/5 – the breakfast will be appreciated by any Muslim wanting to eat a full English. A gourmet or garlic sausage would make this breakfast even better.
Service – 3.5/5 – I’ve never had a problem with the food or the staff in the numerous occasions I have come to meds.
Value – 3.5/5 – You can fill yourself with around £5-£7
Venue – 2.5/5 – Conveniently located for QMUL students, but located a 5/10 minute walk away from Mile end station, very basic venue with a lack of toilet facilities.
SAS – 3.5/5 – A rarity to find a good halal breakfast.
Overall – 16.5/25
