Sticky Wings, Brick Lane
Sticky Wings is located next to QM & BL University on Brick Lane. Some of my non-muslim friends label this as the best buffalo wings joint in London so I was keen to give it a go.
I’ve come here a few times now and I’ve been able to try most things. While the burgers are great I would advise you buy the wings or at least share some with someone! The staff are also happy to take away the side (chips) and add more wings in. Note, the ‘boneless wings’ are actually chicken breast strips!
The wings were good, quite hard to find something similar that is halal in London. The American buffalo is the franks sauce bottle mixed with butter, it tastes like Tabasco with a tang. The jerk twist tasted like a light citrus flavour, it was a nice flavour but BBQ and American Buffalo are better in my opinion.
The beef bagel was a gourmet patty, it was juicy, good quality and as you can see it is THICK. Chicken burger contained a lot of chicken breast seasoned with one of their four sauces. What I liked about the chicken here, is unlike other burgers the chicken didn’t become dry and stringy meat when I bit through the surface.
The cheesecake is incredible, it has a toffee upper, rich vanilla center with profiteroles inside. Even if you don’t particularly like cheesecakes, I cannot recommend this enough. I must add that the service is great and the staff are very friendly. You can expect to wait approximately 15 mins for your food to arrive as it is made fresh.
Food – 3.5/5 – good wings and beef bagel, the cheesecake is very nice.
Service – 4/5 – the staff and owner are very friendly, they really value customer experience.
Value – 4/5 – you can stuff yourself around the £10-15 mark
Venue – 3/5 – I like the location, it has good transport connections serving it. However the restaurant itself its feels slightly lifeless and the decor is not as fancy as some other American (like) diners. If you sit by the front it may get chilly.
SAS factor – 3.5/5 – very unique and of a specific niche, quite lucky this buffalo wings joint is halal. However if you do not like good quality wings (no not your local PFC) then this may not be for you.
Non-halal food: No
Alcohol served: Yes
